News Flash: I may not suck at this job
My students individually averaged 5 points higher on their 2nd semester final than their 1st semester final.
The class average on the final exam for my inclusion classes was a good 8-10 points higher than the county average.
And today, I got this email from the parent of one of my students:
Ms. Ilse,
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for providing such strong and interesting instruction to my son, *******. In past years, English (reading) was not one of his favorite subjects, more specifically, it was one of his least favorite subjects. He dreaded opening up required reading books. In fact, I wondered how he would be able to open Romeo and Juliet, and To Kill A Mockingbird; and actually read them. Well, he could not put them down. No crib sheets, no whining, no procrastinating, just utter enthusiasm!!! And the other units, like poetry, he was comfortable trying his best.
You are the reason for his new found love of reading; and for his positive approach to learning. He loved your classroom instruction, he loved the confidence you gave him in his work, he loved going to your class.
Thank you for a job well done.
That may have made my year.

Good on ya Ilse. Good parent, bothering to tell you.

Of course, it's not like you told them about the letter that said, "Dear Ms. Ilse, please stop showing my child your tits."
Oh...wait. That was from my mother. Never mind.
